Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic form of yoga that links breath and movement together.
During class you will challenge your muscles with strengthening postures and use your breath to release tension and increase your flexibility. After each class you will feel relaxed and refreshed.
What is Ashtanga Yoga?
The most noticeable difference with this type of yoga is that you are taught to practice independently. This is called “Mysore style” yoga. You are taught to practice at your own pace with your own sequence in the yoga room with others (who are also working on their own sequence at their own pace). If this sounds daunting, don’t worry, you will be guided by the teacher every step of the way. Once you have completed the first sequence you are taught the next sequence and so on. The benefit of practicing like this is each person can progress at their own rate (beginners are not trying to keep up with advanced students and advanced students are not being held back from progressing).
Here at the Shala we can teach you the traditional sequences or we can adapt or create a sequence for you if you have an injury or a specific goal.
Live Online Yoga Classes
